South Carolina's Largest Performing Arts Company

Columbia City Ballet II

Columbia City Ballet II is the official training and apprentice ballet company of the 56-year-old, fully professional Columbia City Ballet. CCBII is comprised of pre-professional dancers ages 11 to 18 and is designed to feed into the professional ballet company. Since CCBII members perform in all Columbia City Ballet performances, they maintain a formal rehearsal and performance schedule, as well as an additional performance and competition aspect.

For more information about CCBII, please contact Company Manager Jason Cobb at (803) 799-7605 or  jcobb@columbiacityballet.com.

Guidelines

All members of Columbia City Ballet II are considered for Columbia City Ballet Koger Center performances.  Not all dancers will be needed for all performances; however, the Columbia City Ballet II artists are cast first, before any outside auditioning dancers.  As a member of Columbia City Ballet II, you do not have to re-audition for each performance. Each member must commit to the number of classes specified for your level as well as all scheduled rehearsals.  In the event the artistic staff asks you to perform in run-outs or touring performances, you will be notified no later than two weeks before the performances.

Columbia City Ballet II trainees are required to take three ballet technique and/or pointe classes per week.  At least one of these classes must be taken at the Columbia Conservatory of Dance. These dancers are required to attend all rehearsals & performances scheduled as required by the Columbia City Ballet staff. You are allotted 1 excused absence, which must be approved in writing at least 2 weeks prior. Excessive tardiness will also not be tolerated. Columbia City Ballet II trainees will not weigh in with the company, but they may have their height and weight measured once a month.  Promotion to Columbia City Ballet II apprentice is at the discretion of the artistic staff.

Columbia City Ballet II apprentices must have at least two years on pointe.  These dancers are required to take four ballet technique and/or pointe classes per week. At least two of these classes must be taken at the Columbia Conservatory of Dance. All other requirements are the same as Trainees.  Columbia City Ballet II apprentices will not weigh in with the company, but they may have their height and weight measured once a month.  Promotion to Columbia City Ballet II member is at the discretion of the artistic staff.

Columbia City Ballet II company member dancers must take at least five ballet technique classes every week: junior classes at the conservatory’s downtown location Monday through Thursday and Saturday.  All of these classes must be taken at the Columbia Conservatory of Dance. All other requirements are the same as trainees and apprentices.  This is the last step before a possible invitation to join the Columbia City Ballet as a trainee or corps de ballet member.

Weekly Schedule:

Thursdays   7:00 PM-8:30 PM
