A Letter From William Starrett,

Dear Patron,

As a past Columbia City Ballet performer, we wanted to send you a personal Nutcracker audition notice & invitation! Last year’s Nutcracker performances were our best ever! Our production was spectacular and, with talent such as yours, we are sure to repeat last year’s success! Nutcracker auditions will be held at the Columbia Conservatory of Dance on Sunday, September 20th, starting at 1:00pm. Dancers ages 4 and up are encouraged to audition.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are some important instructions regarding this years’ auditions. First, you must complete the enclosed registration form prior to your arrival and include the non-refundable $20 Audition Fee in check or cash with your form. Please note, there are NO other fees associated with your child’s participation in Nutcracker. Secondly, parents will not be able to enter the Columbia Conservatory of Dance building due to our health and safety protocols. Bring your child, with an appropriate mask, to the Main Street entrance of the Conservatory to check in. At check-in, an attendant will greet your child and receive your registration and method of payment. Next, we will measure each child’s temperature before allowing them to proceed with the audition process. We will also be practicing hand sanitation and social distancing throughout the entire audition. Exactly one hour after check-in, you should pick your child up from the Taylor Street exit of the Columbia Conservatory of Dance. It is of extreme importance that you arrive on time for the audition as well as picking your child up on time, due to the increased time required for health and safety protocols.

We are thrilled about our upcoming 2020 Nutcracker production celebrating our 60th Anniversary Performance Season! We have enclosed an audition notice for you, which lists specific audition times for each age group, along with a registration form. Please tell your friends how much fun you had participating in the ballet last year and encourage them to audition so that they can also be part of CCB’s professional production. You will be notified of audition results via email or US Postal Service within 2 weeks of the auditions conclusion. This notice will also provide you with all rehearsal dates and times. Should you have any questions, please contact Nicole Czekalski at 803-799-7605, after 3:30 pm on weekdays.

Finally, I understand that given current concerns with regard to COVID-19, you may not be comfortable participating in this year’s production of Nutcracker; I completely understand. If that is the case, I assure you that support you and we welcome you to participate in any of our future auditions. Thank you for all of your past participation! I hope you had a great summer and we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming audition!

All the Best,

William Starrett, Artistic and Executive Director
