South Carolina's Largest Performing Arts Organization Celebrates 60 Years!

Claire Rapp

Claire, a Columbia native, grew up studying dance at the Columbia Conservatory of Dance under the instruction of William Starrett and Mariclare Miranda. She was a member of Columbia City Ballet II for several years before joining Columbia City Ballet in 2011. During her training, Claire competed in numerous competitions, including Youth America Grand Prix and attended prestigious summer programs with Boston Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, American Ballet Theatre and Ballet West. She has also performed with Concept Zero, Ballet Spartanburg and Columbia Summer Repertory Company.

During Claire’s time with Columbia City Ballet, she has performed numerous soloist and principal roles, including the title role in Cinderella, “Lilac Fairy” in The Sleeping Beauty, “The Red Maiden” in Dracula:  Ballet with a Bite, “Myrtha” in Giselle, “Snow Queen” and “Sugar Plum Fairy” in Nutcracker, “Beauty” in Beauty and the Beast and many more! Claire is currently in her ninth season with Columbia City Ballet. She was promoted to Soloist in 2014 and to Principal Dancer in 2017.

Claire recently married jazz trumpeter, Mark Rapp, founder of Cola Jazz and SC Ambassador of Jazz. She and her husband are passionate about elevating the arts scene in and around Columbia through performance, education, and outreach.
