What Will CCB Do with Money Raised on Midlands Gives Day?
The funds raised this year will support our Educational Outreach Program and Matching Pointe Shoe Campaign. Donations will allow students from various households to take part and benefit from our Educational Outreach performances that would otherwise not be able to do so. The funds raised will also support the Matching Pointe Shoe Campaign. As dancers spend nearly $2,000 each every year on pointe shoes, this campaign helps provide dancers with pointe shoes to reduce the potential financial burden and keep them safe and at peak performance.
About the Educational Outreach Program
We invite you to bring your classroom to the theatre! Treat your students to a unique learning opportunity that transforms our ballet stage into your vibrant classroom! CCB has received national attention and awards for its creative commitment and vision of its Educational Outreach Program bucking the national industry standard of simply offering students the company’s scheduled dress rehearsals. CCB Executive and Artistic Director William Starrett had the vision to develop curriculum-driven educational dance performance experiences that would be accompanied by a teacher’s guide, choosing stories and topics that help our young people with today’s concerns and developmental needs while also gaining national attention for the company’s diversity.
About the Pointe Shoe Campaign
When pointe shoes are worn out, they put dancers at a higher risk for stress fracture injuries which requires them to be replaced often.
